Überzeugender hat Sydney Fairbanks (ed.), The old West Frisian Skeltana Riucht. With an introduction, translation, and notes (Cambridge 1939), S. 129 das Erstglied letztendlich zu lat. modulus 'Maß, Maßstab, Grundmaß, das Gemäße der Röhre, Rhythmus, Takt, Tonart, Weise, Melodie' gestellt.
Nach freundlicher Auskunft von Anne Tjerk Popkema ("to my best knowledge an attestation of the simplex 'mol(l)' (mole) does not exist in Old Frisian sources") und Rolf Bremmer ("my water tells me that 'mol' is a ghostword") ist das Simplex altfriesisch moll nicht belegt.
